For the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving the City of Cypress as a member of the City Council. And for the past year, it has been an honor to serve as your Mayor.
This fall, I will be running for reelection to the City Council so that I may continue to build upon the things that make Cypress a wonderful community in which to build a career and raise a family. I would be honored to receive your vote in the upcoming election.
Thank you for your support!
- Jon Peat
I would like to thank the following groups and individuals for their support in the upcoming election:

I know the first responsibility for any city is to keep its streets safe. To ensure the highest levels of public safety, I have worked to hire 18 new Cypress Police Officers and ensure current levels of service from the OC Fire Authority.
I understand the importance of a healthy business environment for Cypress. As a member of the City Council, I have worked to attract new businesses to Cypress, ensuring a strong local economy, with a balanced City budget and no tax increase.
I believe that working to keep Cypress' schools top-notch is everyone's job. As a member of the City Council, I have worked to increase school safety, support campus modernization and expand after school student services.
Parks & Recreation
My family and I have lived in Cypress for 21 years. One of the things we enjoy most about living in Cypress are all of the community events and recreation opportunities we are able to partake in. From youth sports, to Concerts on the Green to relaxing afternoons in a neighborhood park, Cypress offers a wide variety of community and recreation opportunities for our residents to enjoy. I am running for the Cypress City Council, in this year's election, so that I may continue working to ensure we maintain the first-rate facilities and excellent programs that we all enjoy, while striving to add new parks and programs to our community. As you prepare to vote in this year's election, I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue making Cypress a great place to live and work.
Public Safety
As a member of the City Council, I have been an advocate for strong public safety. In the past four years, we have:
We've made these investments to ensure our police department has all of the tools and equipment it needs to maintain the safety and security of our community.
I have also supported the Orange County Fire Authority's efforts to maintain and enhance the levels of fire and paramedic service we receive here in Cypress.
In the upcoming election, I am asking for your vote so that I may continue to work to provide the high level of public safety that you and I have come to expect as part of our wonderful City.
“When Jon Peat was first elected to the City Council four years ago, he promised to never raise taxes. He has fulfilled that promise. Jon has been a champion of fiscal responsibility for the great community of Cypress.”
Michelle Steel,
Orange County Supervisor
Financial Management
As a successful businessman, I spent many years developing budgets and plans to help my company grow and prosper. As a member of the City Council, I have used these same skills to effectively and efficiently manage our City. In the past four years we have:
In the upcoming election, I am asking for your vote so that I may continue to provide effective and efficient leadership for the City of Cypress.
Strong Local Economy
In Cypress, we have a strong economy. As a successful businessman, I understand the benefits that a strong economy provides for a local community. As a member of the City Council, I have worked to strengthen our economy by ensuring we maintain a business-friendly environment in order to attract and retain new businesses to Cypress. An example would be the streamlined permitting process we have implemented to give us a competitive advantage in attracting Fortune 500 companies to Cypress.
I believe the results of these efforts can be seen by the number of businesses that are relocating to or expanding in our community. Companies like Speedo, Siemens and Rolls Royce Aerospace are growing and bringing high-paying jobs to our community. Many new restaurants and small businesses have opened in Cypress and large retailers, like Hobby Lobby, are moving into once vacant spaces throughout the City.
There is still much to do, that is why I am asking for your support in the upcoming election. With your help, I want to continue building our strong local economy to create a bright and prosperous future for us all.
Community Involvement
One of the main reasons I am running for the City Council is to be able to give back to the community. My family and I have been blessed to live in Cypress for the past 21 years. During that time, I have been able to serve with a variety of groups and organizations.
We are members of SeaCoast Grace Church. I serve as a member of the Elder Board and my wife Bonnie and I work in the Champions Club, a ministry where special needs children and young adults can learn about God and grow in their faith.
For the past 18 years, I have been involved with the Champion Baseball Program here in Cypress. Champion Baseball provides special needs children and young adults the opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball in a safe and fun environment. Each year, over 100 special needs athletes and families from Cypress and surrounding communities participate in the Champion Baseball Program. In addition, teams from local youth baseball and softball programs, along with teams local high schools help as buddies for our players, making this a true community-based program.
Another group I am involved with is the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress. The Boys & Girls Club provides programs and services that develop academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character for children and teens in our community. Anne Hertz, Sue Osbon and the staff do a wonderful job serving our community meeting the needs hundreds of children and their families. The Club is building a new Teen Center and will soon be able to offer even greater levels of service to the community.
